Sensory Friendly Swim, Extended Swim Lesson Times, and Other News

School's out for summer! Time for some important updates from Kent Gardens Recreation Club.

Parking Lot on Weekday Afternoons

The yellow lines on the curb of the driveway are No Parking/No Standing areas. Please do not park or stand in the driveway as this adds to the congestion of our already congested parking lot. Please park only on paved and indicated spaces in the lot, not on grass or mulched areas. The walkway of the top lot to the gate must be kept clear of vehicles.

Please also remember not to park in our parking lot when we have swim or dive meets. The path from Poole Lane has been freshly mulched and widened for your convenience.

New! Sensory Friendly Swim

Beginning July 2nd, KGRC will offer, on a trial basis, a period of "quiet, sensory-friendly swim time" reserved for members with special needs. The pool facilities will be available to members, accompanied by at least one and up to two parents, guardians or caregivers. Families interested in participating in this program should contact Board Member Claudia Tielking via e-mail at dive@kgrc.org. Eligibility restrictions may apply and all inquiries will be treated confidentially.

New! Extended Swim Lesson Times

In response to member feedback, we are adding additional hours when Private Swim Lessons (provided by one member to another member) can be held. Lane 5 can be reserved by the instructor on a first-come, first served basis from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or, Monday-Friday, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Adult Swim Starts on Tuesday

Adult Swim hours begin Tuesday and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays through August 24th from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. We are considering adding an additional morning of Adult Swim each week. Please stay tuned for details about Extended Adult Swim hours.

Pool Rules and Regulation and Appropriate Behavior Towards KGRC Staff

Please make sure you are familiar with the Club Rules and Regulations. Note that water squirting toys, including but not limited to: Super Soakers, water guns, noodles pressed against water jets, foam squirt cannons, etc..., fall under the "spouting water or any other inappropriate or hurtful behavior as deemed by the lifeguards" provision. In addition, "The manager and assistant manager have complete authority concerning enforcement of the pool rules, and their decision is final. Such authority includes the right to restrict water activities by 'benching' a violator for up to 15 minutes, as well as the right to evict any person who fails to comply with the rules and regulations of Kent Gardens Recreation Club."

We've received unfortunate and unacceptable reports of angry, aggressive, and intimidating confrontations with our staff. Please also make sure that your interactions with our staff are appropriate and recognize that they are, for the most part, teenagers. If you have a concern that you feel was not addressed properly by the staff, please contact the Board of Directors via the e-mail addresses or the Member Feedback Form on the Board of Directors page of the web site.
